The Medical Directors meet three times a year to discuss, and act upon, issues affecting University Hospitals from the perspective of a Medical Director.

The Medical Directors work and liaise with a number of organisations on issues arising including the Department of Health and the General Medical Council. In addition, representatives from NHS Employers and COPMeD are invited to attend all meetings, as are Medical Directors from the Strategic Health Authorities.
